The visiting teams and officials provided consistently positive feedback on the grounds, match operations, accommodation, food, transportation and hospitality.
SACC 2026 also gave Colombian administrators, scorers, volunteers and officials valuable first-hand experience of working alongside international teams and ICC match officials.

The tournament concluded with Brazil as champions, Panama as runners-up and Colombia in third place, providing a strong sporting outcome while also demonstrating the depth and competitiveness of cricket across the participating nations.
OPENING CEREMONY & CAPTAINS’ MEETING
The championship officially opened on 5 August at the Hampton by Hilton Bogotá Airport, with representatives from all six teams, match officials, invited guests and members of the media. The Captains’ Meeting provided an opportunity to review the tournament format, schedule and playing conditions ahead of the first match. The event also generated early media interest, with captains, officials and Cricket Colombia representatives speaking with journalists about the championship and the development of cricket in Colombia. The preliminary squad has been selected based on player performances, commitment, consistency, and contributions throughout the season. Over the coming weeks, players will continue to compete for a place in the final squad. The final 16-player squad will be announced on 21 July 2026, following the conclusion of the Bogotá Tournament.
DEVELOPING COLOMBIAN UMPIRES
A major development initiative took place alongside SACC 2026. Cricket Colombia hosted an ICC Level 1 Umpiring Course in Bogotá on 5 August, with 12 participants completing the programme. The course represents an important step in developing Colombia’s own pool of qualified cricket officials and strengthening the foundations of the sport beyond the playing field.
COLOMBIA ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE
SACC 2026 provided Colombian players with four days of high-level international competition. The tournament also created development opportunities for coaches, umpires, scorers, volunteers and administrators, allowing local cricket personnel to gain practical experience in an international tournament environment. For Cricket Colombia, this was an important milestone: Colombia was not only competing in international cricket, but successfully hosting it.
MEDIA & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
SACC 2026 attracted sustained media interest in Colombia and across the participating nations. Journalists covered the opening ceremony, interviewed captains and team representatives, and reported on the matches, the results and the awards ceremony. For many Colombian readers and viewers, this was their first exposure to international cricket.
