Colombia Women's Team

WELCOME TO COLOMBIA WOMEN'S TEAM

Women’s cricket in Colombia is entering an exciting new chapter, growing from informal roots into a structured, competitive, and inspiring movement for the next generation of female cricketers. Though women have played cricket in Colombia since the 1970s, the sport has recently seen renewed momentum. The Barranquilla Cricket Club has been at the forefront of this resurgence, establishing the country’s first dedicated women’s team, made up primarily of talented Colombian nationals, many of whom also play baseball at a high level. This vibrant crossover has brought athleticism, enthusiasm, and fresh energy into Colombian cricket.

Recent series on the Caribbean coast marked a breakthrough moment for women’s cricket, as the Barranquilla Ladies, supported by players from across the country, represented Colombia in an official capacity. Under the guidance of qualified coach Alex Solano, the team trained intensively in all aspects of the game, batting, bowling, fielding, and strategy. The sessions not only developed technical skills but also helped build a united team culture, laying the groundwork for future success.

Cricket Colombia is also proud of its diaspora talent. Colombian women are playing competitive club cricket abroad, including in the UK, where Blanca Huertas and Paola Solano represent top-tier women’s sides. These players serve as powerful examples of the global potential of Colombian cricket, and they remain connected to the national programme. Their international experience brings valuable perspective to Colombia’s growing player pool.
